Soft skills, often referred to as interpersonal or social skills, encompass abilities such as communication, etiquette and manners, teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, and adaptability to name a few. Unlike technical or domain-specific knowledge, soft skills are essential for navigating professional environments and building relationships.

In the placement process, soft skills become crucial as they help candidates stand out especially during group discussions and personal interviews. While technical knowledge may get students through initial screening, soft skills are key traits that employers look for and value in a candidate. Unfortunately, these skills are often not covered in standard academic curriculums, leaving students underprepared for key interactions during the hiring process.

The Constellation Soft Skills Program helps candidates seeking placements to appreciate and address these attributes of soft skills so that they are able to present themselves with confidence in front of company executives. This course has evolved over many years with students of IIT Kharagpur, from 2012 to 2022 and it continues with a group of students from the institute every year. The students have benefited from the course and many of them have attributed their success to this course.
